The Diocese of Camden’s Office of Hispanic Ministry provided an evening of training for parish couple leaders last Friday, Oct. 23.

“It was a beautiful evening in which Latino couple leaders were recognized for their service in our parishes,” said Andres Arango, Bishop’s Delegate for Hispanic Ministry in the Diocese of Camden.

“At the same time, they were able to learn practical tools to enhance their ministry with families in South Jersey.”

The event at John Paul II Retreat Center in Vineland included dinner and a concert with Paraguayan musician Silvia Mariella.

The night ended with a lecture from Colombian priest, Father Jaime Perez, who urged the 29 couples to have a personal relationship with Jesus.

In addition, he gave his audience practical ideas on how to best minister to families in the parish, through such initiatives as a prayer group, or providing spiritual formation to parents who enroll their children in the parish’s religious education program.

Father Perez stressed the importance of dialogue and communication between couples and families, as a path to holiness.
