Two top-level military officers returned to their alma maters recently, providing inspiration and encouragement to students and future leaders. Above, Lt. Gen. Flora D. Darpino, Advocate General of the United States Army and 1979 graduate of Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Newfield, spoke during the school’s annual Hall of Fame Dinner on Oct. 25 at Merighi’s Savoy Inn in Vineland, honoring the 2014 Inductees into the school’s Salerno Society. A Salerno Society Award recipient, Lt. Gen. Darpino is the first female Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Army in the country’s history. At left is OLMA principal Sister Grace Marie.
