Bereavement workshop held for children

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Kira’s Kamp, a bereavement workshop developed by Stephanie Hand, bereavement coordinator at Holy Redeemer HomeCare and Hospice, is designed for youngsters who have lost loved ones.
The annual youth bereavement workshop was held on June 28 and was geared for area children 4 and up to 9 and older. The free camp offered grief counseling and fellowship with other children who have experienced losses.
Featured at the workshop were arts and crafts, coordinated by local art teacher, Dar Ehrhart, who helped the children create colorful works of art. Michael A. Michnya, a local singer/songwriter, and a member of the Garden State Songwriters, co-wrote a song with the children to honor their loved ones.
Holy Redeemer bereavement coordinators were on hand to explain healthy and effective ways to express feelings and to deal with losses.
Holy Redeemer HomeCare and Hospice supports families up to 13 months after a loss.
Kira’s Kamp was named after a hospice patient.
The next workshop is planned for Dec. 7, as holidays can be especially hard for anyone who has lost a loved one.
Holy Redeemer HomeCare and Hospice is the largest provider of home health and hospice services in New Jersey, and also provides care in Philadelphia, Bucks, and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania. For more information, call 1-800-818-4747 or visit the website at
