Bishop Emeritus reflects on ‘Mind of Jesus’

Bishop Emeritus Joseph Galante is now a blogger.

The “Have the Mind of Jesus” blog, begun in July, reflects Bishop Galante’s thoughts, reflections and prayers. Postings so far have addressed Pope Francis’ talks on the love of Jesus; the quest for peace in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, and Bishop Galante’s experience of three times a week dialysis and how that provides an opportunity for spiritual reflection.

The blog was developed with the assistance of Rocca Palmo, the Philadelphia-based Catholic journalist.

“I enjoyed doing the column in the Catholic Star Herald,” said the bishop about his regular writings in this newspaper when he was bishop of Camden. “This is a chance to do something similar … It’s an opportunity as I did with the column to share the fruits of my prayer. For me it’s a kind of ministry.”

The blog is available at

Ordained for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 1964, Bishop Galante served as Undersecretary of the Congregation for Religious in Rome. In 1992 he was appointed auxiliary bishop of San Antonio, Texas, and later served as bishop of Beaumont, Texas and co-adjutor Bishop of Dallas before becoming the seventh bishop of Camden in 2004. He retired in January 2013 and currently resides in Somers Point.
