Bishop Joseph A. Galante has approved the following men for advancement from the Aspirancy phase of diaconate formation into the Candidacy phase:

— Peter R. Davidson, St. Brendan the Navigator, Avalon
— Frank Dunleavy, Infant Jesus Parish, Woodbury Heights

— Kevin P. Hannon, Holy Angels Parish, Woodbury
— Kenneth H. Henry, Catholic Community of Christ Our Light, Cherry Hill
— Robert M. Iuliucci, Assumption Parish, Atco

In the Aspirancy phase of formation, the men and their wives participated in Saturday formation days at the Diaconate Center in Paulsboro.
The formation day begins with Mass or a communion service along with Morning Prayer. They then attend morning and afternoon sessions which cover a broad range of topics intended to give the Aspirants a better understanding of church, mission and the diaconate ministry.
The Aspirants and their wives were interviewed by a formal review committee in July and recommendations for advancement were approved by Bishop Galante.
In the Candidacy phase of formation, the men will undertake a more structured five-year academic program of study. Wives are encouraged to participate in the classes.
The Candidates will also participate in formation programs for human development, pastoral ministry skills and spiritual growth. The couples participate in a weekend retreat for the entire formation community as well as evenings of reflection in Advent and Lent.
