The 2014 Brothers in Christ N.J. Catholic Men’s Conference will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mary Mother of Mercy Parish, from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Former Philadelphia Eagle Kevin Reilly and former N.Y. Jet Joe Klecko will be the featured speakers, offering testimonials on the importance of faith in Jesus Christ in everyday life.
The theme of the conference will be “In a world of darkness, be a Light for Christ,” and will focus on ways men can be lights for Christ, in the world of violence, war, poverty, injustice, pornography and abortion.”
The day will also feature Mass, the rosary, and opportunities for the Sacrament of Confession.
In the 1970s, Kevin Reilly played on special teams for the Eagles before his career was cut short by cancer. Today, he is a cancer survivor, a radio announcer for the Eagles network and a former corporate executive.
Joe Klecko was a member of the 1980s New York Jets feared defensive line know as “The New York Sack Exchange.” He was the first player ever selected for the Pro Bowl for three different positions (nose tackle, defensive end and defensive tackle). Today, he is a motivational speaker, and works as a sales representative in the construction industry.
The registration fee for the conference is $20, and may be paid via paypal on the conference’s website, www.brothersinchristnj.org. The Brothers in Christ N.J. Catholic Men’s Conference is open to all men and is co-sponsored by the St. John Neumann and Our Lady Queen of Peace Knights of Columbus councils, and the King’s Men group of Infant Jesus Parish, Woodbury Heights.
