A psalm piece by Handel and a potpourri of pop, folk and spiritual music await audiences at the Greater South Jersey Chorus’s spring performances at two area churches.
The 90-member mixed-voice chorus will perform at 8 p.m. April 30 at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 3 Lord Place, Marlton, and at 8 p.m. May 14 at Christ the King Church, 200 Windsor Ave., Haddonfield.
The performances will open with a psalm piece titled “Dixit Dominus,” Latin for “The Lord Said,” by G.F. Handel. The chorus will perform “Dixit Dominus” with five guest vocalists and accompaniment by the Fairmount Chamber Ensemble of Wyndmoor, Pa. After intermission, the program will shift to more popular music as well as folk songs from Poland and New Zealand, a spiritual and two musical settings of poems. An encore is expected to conclude the evening with hand-clapping fun.
