Frank Pepe, Jr., 82, of Williamstown, retired, who served as a permanent deacon in the Camden Diocese for 25 years, died July 2.
Deacon Pepe was a United States Army veteran who served during the Korean War. Ordained in 1988, he ministered at St. Jude Church, Blackwood; Our Lady of Grace, Somerdale; and Holy Family, Sewell. He retired in 2006.
Deacon Leo McBlain, director of the Office of the Diaconate, remembered a “very quiet man who performed his duties without fanfare.”
Deacon Pepe was the husband of Marie (nee Whitefield); father of John A. (Sharyn), Frank (Francine), Marie (Charles) Longstreth, and Diane (Ed) Bray; grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of 10; and brother of Nicholas.
A memorial Mass was celebrated July 8 at Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Jude Church. Interment followed at Gloucester County Veteran’s Cemetery, Williamstown.
