Deacon Ronald J. Olesiewicz, 71, who most recently served at Infant Jesus Parish, St. Margaret Church, Woodbury Heights, died Saturday, Aug. 20.
Deacon Olesiewicz belonged to the first class of deacons ordained for the Diocese of Camden, on Oct. 4, 1976.
A service tech for Canon and Multigraphics, he first served with Mary, Mother of the Church in Bellmawr for 28 years, and spent the last four years with Infant Jesus. He also served with the U.S. Air Force.
“Ron was a quiet and amiable man who got along with everybody. He was also a faithful servant who was dedicated to whatever task he was assigned,” remembered Deacon Leo McBlain, who was ordained with Deacon Ronald in the first class, and now serves as director of the Office of the Diaconate for the Diocese of Camden.
“You could see these qualities in Ron as a deacon, husband and father.”
Father. Joseph Szolack, pastor of Infant Jesus, knew Olesiewicz for 10 years.
“You could always count on him,” Father Szolack said. “Even in his illness, he kept his sense of humor, always had a laugh; he never complained.”
A funeral Mass was celebrated last Wednesday morning, Aug. 24, at Infant Jesus Parish. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing.
Deacon Olesiewicz was the husband of the late Regina (nee Kaczorowski); father of Denise LaBoube (Raymond); and grandfather of Austyn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Ron’s memory to the Infant Jesus Parish, 334 Beech Avenue, Woodbury Heights, 08097, or St. Joseph’s Polish Church, 1010 Liberty Street, Camden, NJ 08104, or Vitas Hospice, 521 Fellowship Road, Suite 110, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054.
