On Feb. 17, the Bishop of Ponce, Puerto Rico, Ruben Gonzalez, spoke to fellow Hispanic Catholics in Blackwood in a Diocesan Lenten Mission to remember “Jesus: The Face of the Merciful Father.”
At Saint Jude Church, Our Lady of Hope Parish, he challenged the 120 people gathered to be merciful like Jesus during this Jubilee of Mercy, and show love to our neighbors in practicing the Spiritual and corporal works of mercy.
In addition to his address, Bishop Gonzalez celebrated Mass at the evening presentation, which was a time for “spiritual renewal, and empowered people to get involved in this Jubilee of Mercy, and share what they learned with others,” said Andres Arango, Bishop’s Delegate for Hispanic Ministry, and diocesan Director of Evangelization.
The event in Blackwood was just one part of Bishop Gonzalez’s visit to the Diocese of Camden, as he also led a three-day mission at Divine Mercy Parish in Vineland, and a 1-day retreat at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Camden.
