Those from the Dioceses of Camden, Trenton and beyond are invited to gather May 9 for “Stations of the Cross for Social Justice,” an afternoon of prayerful public witness.
From 2 to 4 p.m. at Saint Joan of Arc Parish, Marlton, the faithful will make their way across parish grounds to each of the stations that commemorates Jesus’ suffering and death, and reflect on contemporary social issues through prayer and Scripture.
The outdoor event, to be held rain or shine, will help participants “keep in mind the suffering of Christ, and connect His experience with those on the margins of society,” said Dr. Michael Sims, director of the Diocese of Camden’s Office of Life and Justice Ministries.
The gathering is part of a broader national movement, Catholics in Communion’s Season of Faithful Witness, which is dedicated to strengthening the Church’s public witness and the mission to cultivate works of mercy and uphold the dignity of every person.
“Through communal prayer and the Stations of the Cross, we will root ourselves to Christ and the Gospel. By putting Him at the center of our actions, we will advocate for our sisters and brothers,” Dr. Sims said.
“Stations of the Cross for Social Justice” will take place 2-4 p.m. on May 9 at Saint Joan of Arc Church’s Pedata Hall, 100 Willow Bend Road, Marlton. To register or for more information, contact LIA@stjoans.org.
