St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Marmora will host a Divorce Care Support Program beginning Sept. 13.
“If you have been separated or divorced, you know that during this time of loss you need the support of your church, friends, family, and others who share your experience,” says Deacon Tom Jennings, who coordinates the Catholic Divorce Ministry for the Diocese of Camden with his wife Carol. “As a church community we do not want to see our members suffer from the loss of a relationship.”
The Catholic Divorce Care support group consists of a 13-session program. The format is designed to keep the discussions meaningful, yet open enough to allow a free exchange of ideas and experiences. Sessions always begin and end with prayer and will meet on Thursdays, 7-9 p.m., at St. Casimir Church, 304 Clay Street, Woodbine. Meetings will be in the lower church hall.
Anyone who would like to attend should register ahead of time. There is a $25 registration fee for the workbook. To register or for information, contact Roger at 609-602-9090, Donna at 609-350-5064, or e-mail DivorceCare08270@gmail.com.
Divorce and Beyond will be offered at Our Lady of Peace Parish, Williamstown, on Wednesdays, 7-9 p.m., starting in September. Divorce and Beyond is for people who are divorced or who have made the decision to divorce and are involved in the process.
“The program asks that you commit yourself to all 12 sessions. Through reflection, reading and exercises, Divorce and Beyond offers healing and growth,” says Debbie Wolk, one of the facilitators of the adult group.
Kids Cope, for children ages 6-12, will also start in September, at Our Lady of Peace Parish. This is a group to help children heal from the pain caused by divorce. A parent is asked to attend. Contact Debbie at 856-881-4133 or debbiewolk@hotmail.com.
Registration for Divorce and Beyond and Kids Cope will be held in the St. Joseph Room of St. Mary’s Church Campus, 32 Carroll Ave., Williamstown, on Sept. 12, 7 p.m. A registration fee of $20 will be collected at that time to cover the book and materials. ($10 for kids)
