CHERRY HILL — Beginning Sept, 28 and running through Nov. 16 Christ Our Light Parish will hold what is called an Everyday Finance Course for parishioners and for the general public.
Sponsored by the Stewardship of Treasure Committee, the series of free weekly programs will be led by Rob Sagedy, CPA, and John Clark, a Certified Financial Planner. Both are parishioners. Among the topics to be discussed will be setting financial goals, investments and insurance, estate planning, and tax planning and charitable giving.
Each weekly program will run from 7-8:30 p.m. and will include a 45-minute presentation along with a 30-minute question-and-answer period.
Father Jon Thomas, parochial vicar, suggested the idea of the class at a meeting of Stewardship of Treasure Committee.
“As we discussed the idea, we realized that we offer ministries for everything from religious education to health programs but do not have any education offerings that cater to the financial needs of the community,” said Paul Graefen, chairman of the Stewardship Treasure Committee.
“With the recession and the economy over the last few years, we believe that there is a need for this kind of program offering, and this is an important ministry for us to undertake,” he said. “We hope that this class will offer real world education to everyone who attends with some infusion of biblical teachings on money.”
