Father Edward F. Sobolewski to retire

Father Edward Francis Sobolewski, pastor of St. Mary Parish, Rosenhayn, will retire Oct. 13.

Father Sobolewski, 69, has served as pastor of St. Mary since 2005 and previously was pastor of St. Matthew Parish, National Park, 1994-2005.

He also has served as parochial vicar at St. Teresa Parish, Runnemede, 1969; St. Francis of Assisi, Vineland, 1969-73; Immaculate Conception, Bridgeton, 1973-80; Our Lady Star of the Sea, Atlantic City, 1980; St. John, Collingswood, 1980-81; St. John Neumann, Sicklerville, 1981-84; Sts. Peter and Paul, Turnersville, 1984-87; Christ the King, Haddonfield, 1987-88; and St. Peter, Pleasantville, 1988-94.

Born in Shenandoah, Pa., Father Sobolewski attended Immaculate Conception Seminary, Darlington, N.J. and was ordained May 31, 1969, in St. Joseph Pro-Cathedral, Camden, by Bishop George H. Guifoyle.

Father Sobolewski served as chaplain to the Police Department in Vineland when he was serving at St. Francis of Assisi Parish. He also ministered in marriage preparation and was a member of the Priests Council.
