Father Frank Patrylak, a resident of the Manor at St. Mary’s, Cherry Hill, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the chapel on Sunday, April 15, to mark his 50 years as a priest. He was ordained April 16, 1962, in the Byzantine Ukrainian Catholic Church in Philadelphia.
Though fully in union with Rome, the Ukrainian Catholic Church, a Byzantine or Eastern Catholic church, has maintained the liturgical and spiritual heritage shared with the Orthodox churches.
The Ukrainian church has its own distinctive liturgical and legal systems but is considered equal in dignity, rights and obligations to the Latin tradition within the Catholic Church.
