In the 24 Feb. issue, Father Gregorio refers to a document published by the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, and blasts George Weigel’s assessment of it as “rubbish.” (“Feeling sympathy when anger is called for.”) Then he gets personal, claiming his allegience is to capitalism over Catholicism. It’s erroneous to consider capitalism and Christianity as mutually exclusive. The true opposite of capitalism is Marxism.
The last thing Christianity needs is a new world authority to govern our lives. As the HHS’ new extra-Constitutional powers have shown, much to Gregorio’s silence, as governments amass greater power for themselves, they must extinguish religious liberty in the process.
