Sister Carmel Minnock, RSM a native of Tullamore, Co. Offaly, Ireland, died May 1 in her Convent in Trim, Co. Meath, Ireland.
She received her early education from the Sisters of Mercy in her native town, Tullamore. After graduating from high school she joined the Sisters of Mercy, Trim, Co. Meath.
Qualifying as a primary school teacher, she taught sixth grade until her assignment to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, Berlin, in 1970. From 1970-78 she was principal and coordinator of the parish religious education program.
From 1978-2006 Sister Carmel Minnock was involved with the junior high language arts and math programs.
December 2009 she returned to her convent in Trim where she spent her last four months with her community, family and friends. She was pre-deceased by her six brothers and two sisters. She is sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews and community.
Sister Carmel was said to have touched the lives of thousands of children and adults throughout her years in Berlin. Mass cards may be mailed to Sister Agnes Heffernan, Convent of Mercy, Trim, County Meath, Ireland. Sister Agnes will record the Masses and then forward them on to Sister Carmel’s family.
