Dickie Noles, a relief pitcher for the 1980 Philadelphia Phillies’ World Series championship team and 11-year MLB player, was one of the featured panel speakers at Our Lady of the Angels, Cape May Court House, on Saturday, April 2, as part of the parish’s Substance Abuse Ministry’s spring workshop, titled “Addiction is a disease. Let’s treat it as one.” Noles, a former alcohol and cocaine abuser who is now a born-again Christian, works with the Phillies as an employee assistance counselor, helping major league baseball players deal with alcohol and drug problems, and speaks nationwide on the dangers of substance abuse. Ken Dickerson, a recovered pharmacist and staff member at Gaudenzia, an inpatient rehabilitation center in Philadelphia, was also a featured speaker for the parish’s Substance Abuse Ministry, which helps individuals and families dealing with alcohol and drug-related issues.
