Brandon Wethman, a Gloucester Catholic junior from Mullica Hill, has been selected to be among 1,000 attendees at West Point’s Summer Leaders Seminar (SLS) in June. SLS attendees live in the cadet barracks (dormitories), eat in the Cadet Mess, and participate in academic, leadership, athletic, and military workshops. The one-week seminars are designed to help juniors with their college selection process while giving them an idea of the importance of leadership and sound decision making in their education, careers, and lives. All SLS attendees participate in virtual reality war simulation, and military and physical fitness training.
Gloucester Catholic’s boys’ swim team could not overcome a powerful opponent in the Feb. 25 Non-Public state championship meet, falling to top-seeded Pingry 115-55 at The College of New Jersey. Despite the loss, the Rams’ Nick Marks broke a school record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.85 seconds. Marks also won the 100 butterfly and the Rams got two more wins from Devin McCall in the 200 free and 100 backstroke.
