Hermana Glenda, a popular singer from Spain, performs at St. Teresa Church in Bridgeton on Saturday, July 31. The next day she performed in Camden.
Last weekend, Glenda Valesca Hernandez, better known as “Hermana Glenda,” performed at two parishes in the Diocese of Camden.
On Saturday, July 31, she played a concert at St. Teresa Church in Bridgeton, joined by the St. Teresa choir. The next day, she and the choir played at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Camden.
Born in Chile in 1971, Hermana Glenda, 39, has, for the past 12 years, entertained global audiences with her contemporary interpretations of Christian music, with guitar.
While performing at a musical festival, she impressed the festival director, who urged her to record an album. Since recording “A Solos con Dios,” she has recorded four other albums, and in 2002, she was invited to play her popular song, “Nada Es Imposible para Ti,” for Pope John Paul II and all those in attendance at World Youth Day in Toronto.
For 22 years, she has been a member of the Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation.
Presently living in Spain, she travels around the world, spreading her inspirational songs.
Money raised from the concerts went to the Lay Ministry Formation Program for Hispanic Ministry.
