Hermits rugby makes history, first to five state championships

The Saint Augustine Preparatory School rugby team made history May 16 as the Hermits defeated Christian Brothers Academy, 57-30, in Lincroft to claim their fifth straight NJ Rugby Spring 15s state championship. The Rugby 15s program became the first team in school history to win five straight state titles. The Hermits’ swimming program has a current streak of four. Saint Augustine Prep’s 15s have won a total of eight state championships, which includes a three-year streak from 2017-2019. The Hermits’ Rugby 7s program, which competes in the fall, has won five state titles from 2015 through 2023.
