Ida Falotico of Minotola, the mother of Father Ronald Falotico, parochial vicar at St. Mary of Mount Carmel in Hammonton, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the age of 93.
Jewish by birth, Mrs. Falotico was a convert to Catholicism. She was baptized by her son when he was a transitional deacon, and she received her first Communion from him when he celebrated his first Mass after his ordination to the priesthood.
Of his mother’s Jewish roots and Catholic faith, Father Falotico often said she “had the best of both worlds.” She was, he added, “a great celebrator of life.”
A viewing was to be held Friday, Sept. 7, at St. Martin de Porres Church, St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish, from 5-7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately following the viewing, at 7:30 p.m.
There will be a prayer service on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Martin de Porres Church. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
