In photo at left, Franciscan Father William J. Weiksnar blesses palms prior to a Palm Sunday Mass outside St. Anthony of Padua Church in Camden in this 2007 file photo.
In the background is a replica of the cross that St. Francis of Assisi was praying beside at the Church of San Damiano when he received his commission from the Lord. Franciscans continue to cherish it as the symbol of their mission from God. The icon-style of the painting is attributed to Serbian monks in the Assisi area during the 12th century.
