Knights of Columbus state council appoints treasurer

Andrew Lipenta of Pennsauken has been appointed state treasurer of the New Jersey State Council of the Knights of Columbus to fill an unexpired term.

Lipenta has served in many positions in the Knights of Columbus, including grand knight of his home council, 6735 of St. Peter Parish in Merchantville, district deputy and fourth degree master of the Second New Jersey District. He has served on many committees and received many awards in his more than 25 years in the order, including District Deputy of the Year.

He has been a parishioner of St. Peter since 1950.

He retired last year after 32 years of work with Electro Magnetic Products Inc. in Moorestown, where he does part-time consulting.

He and his wife of 39 years, Maria, have four grown children and two grandchildren.

His term as state treasurer, which became open because of a resignation, will expire at the end of June.

The state officers have recommended Lipenta for the nomination of state secretary in elections that will be held at the state convention in Wildwood on May 13 and 14, said Herb Meyer, state deputy.
