How did the Lay Ministry Formation Program prepare you for your ministry?
The knowledge I have acquired has been beyond anything I could ever imagine. I have learned so much, not only from the teachers, but from my colleagues and the books that have been not only required but also the suggested readings outside the classroom. These have been priceless learning experiences.
How has Lay Ministry molded you as a person?
It has made me a better person; a happier person. I feel like my life has become more “full circle.” And, when two of my friends told me that I looked happy and content, I knew it was due to my interest and belonging to the lay ministry program.
What has been a “memorable moment”?
I had a dance/dinner for our youth and young adult group. All children from the first to the eighth grade, along with their parents, were invited. I worked with our Spanish Apostolate sister, a joy to work with, and we were able to bring various ethnic cultures together for a tremendous turnout. The accolades I received from our pastor, Father Tom, made me feel that all the effort was well worth it.
Why would you encourage others to become a lay minister?
Life offers us so many things; it is up to us to take advantage of those things. Never let any day or anything go by without giving those things a chance. Every day is a gift, cherish every minute.
The Diocese of Camden Lay Ministry Fair will be held Nov. 3.
