A dozen individuals from several parishes in the Diocese of Camden, working in Catholic Charismatic Renewal for Hispanics, attended the ECCLE (Encuentro Católico Carismático Latino Estadounidense), National Leadership Hispanic Catholic Charismatic Renewal Conference, on May 20-22 at the Hotel Clarion Sport Complex in Kansas City, Mo.
With the theme of “Returning to the First Love,” based on the second chapter of the Book of Revelation, over 400 diocesan leaders from around the country heard from guest speakers, Father Guillermo Campuzano, DiPaul University, Chicago; and Msgr. Joseph Malagreca, spiritual director, CNSH (Comité Nacional de Servicio Hispano – Hispanic National Service Committee).
Workshops covered various topics such as youth and young adults; leadership formation, led by the Camden Diocese’s Andres Arango, director of Evangelization; the developing of ministries; and charismas and fruits.
On Sunday, May 22, Arango started his service as the national coordinator for the Hispanic Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) in the United States and Canada.
“It was a blessing for the leaders of the Hispanic CCR in the diocese to participate in a national event, such as this conference” said Kathia Arango, Camden diocesan coordinator for the Hispanic CCR. “We have seen the fruits of one year of networking as a diocesan team, working with the same vision and goals.”
“This conference was a great formation opportunity in the area of evangelization to prepare us for better service in our diocesan conference in June,” she said.
The Camden Diocese’s Conference on Hispanic Catholic Charismatic Renewal will take place on June 25 and 26 at Divine Mercy parish in Vineland, with Martha Reyes, singer and Catholic preacher. On Saturday, June 25, from 6-9 p.m., there will be a praise and worship concert, and on Sunday, 8-6 p.m., there will be a congress of healing. Presiding at Sunday’s liturgy will be Bishop Joseph A. Galante.
