Local church musicians attend workshop on Gregorian Chant

The Church Musicians Association of Camden recently gathered at St. Agnes Church in Blackwood for a chant workshop, facilitated by Dr. Theodore Kiefer of Franklinville, that focused on Pope Gregory the Great, the originator of Gregorian Chant; chant terminology and symbols; and to sight reading chant in its “square note” form.

Attendees were Joan Nipe, Yvette Gauthier and Olivia Flitcraft from Queen of the Apostles, Pennsville, Victoria Nichols, Church of the Nativity, Franklinville, Liz Dorian Lentz, Sacred Heart, Vineland, Casey Clark, Assumption, Atco, Doris Cunningham, Belva Bergamo and Barbara Sykora, St. Isidore, Vineland.

The Church Musicians Association of Camden is a non-profit organization, the local branch of National Pastoral Musicians, which is dedicated to the education and formation of choirs, directors and instrumentalists.
