Lucy J. Malatesta dies, worked at Catholic Star Herald for 25 years

Lucy J. Malatesta, 87, formerly of Pennsauken, and former Catholic Star Herald employee, died May 16.

Malatesta (nee Colaiacovo) was the wife of the late Louis and mother of Lucille (Gus) Sarno of Merchantville and Louis M. Malatesta of Mount Laurel, and grandmother of Michael and A.J. and sister of the late Rosie, Alfonso and Mary.

She was secretary of the circulation department of the Catholic Star Herald for 25 years, retiring in 1989.

Recalling “fond memories” of Malatesta, Jim McBride, Star Herald photographer who worked with her for almost 20 years, added that his co-worker was “a great lady, and dedicated to her work, church, and family.”

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, May 21, at Mary, Queen of All Saints Parish, St. Cecilia Church in Pennsauken. Entombment was at Calvary Mausoleum.
