Father Hugh Macsherry, OFM, has been named pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Camden, for a six-year term, effective July 10.
Bishop Dennis Sullivan made the announcement July 8.
Father Macsherry has served as parochial vicar of the parish since July 2011.
He also is a site supervisor for Franciscan Volunteer Ministry in the Greater Philadelphia area.
He was director of volunteers and pastoral associate at St. Anthony Shrine and Ministry Center in Boston, 2009-11, after working for the Holy Name Province for three years on social justice practices and initatives.
He taught Spanish in the Montgomery County Public Schools, 2001-02.
Father Macsherry, who grew up in Baltimore, attended University of Maryland, College Park and Washington Theological Union.
