Pope simplifies annulment process
A portrait of Pope Francis is visible in the background as Father David J. Klein, Judicial Vicar, Diocese of Camden, stands at the Tribunal door at the Pastoral Center, Camden. The pope approved rewriting sections of the Latin-rite Code of Canon Law and the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches to make the annulment process quicker, less expensive and more pastoral. “In the coming months new procedures and policies will be developed,” Bishop Dennis Sullivan said in a statement Sept. 8. “I have asked the Diocesan Tribunal to prepare presentations for priests, deacons and the faithful before the beginning of December.” Photo by James A.
