Reflection days in Atlantic City

Reflection days in Atlantic City

Beginning on Saturday, Feb. 3, the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal will host a series of reflection days, held the first Saturday of the month until June at Saint Michael Church in Atlantic City.

Why the first Saturday? Why for five months?

“The church has always honored the Blessed Virgin Mary in a special way on Saturdays, but in 1925 the Blessed Mother herself asked for special devotion on the first Saturday of each month for five days in a row,” the community said in a statement announcing the reflection days.

“This special devotion is offered in reparation for all the offenses committed against Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart,” they said.

The devotion is to include holy Communion, confession, recitation of the rosary and meditation for 15 minutes on the Mysteries of the Rosary.

“In our busy lives, it is not always easy to carve out the time to do these things — so our reflection days will serve as a perfect opportunity to fulfill these requirements,” the sisters said.

The days will include music, lunch and fellowship, a talk by a Franciscan Friar and time for prayer.

Future dates: March 3, April 7, May 5, June 2.
