Rita T. Stoerlein, the sister of Msgr. Joseph G. Stoerlein, died July 16, at the age of 72.
Ms. Stoerlein, born in Galloway Township, attended St. Peter’s School in Pleasantville, Holy Spirit High School in Atlantic City (Class of 1945), and Misericordia School of Nursing in Philadelphia (Class of 1948). Her nursing career took her to positions with Seaboard and Western Airlines; serving as a cruise nurse on Holland America Lines; serving in various supervisory positions at Atlantic City Medical Center; in the office of Edward Hoffman, Md.; and at the Nazha Cancer Center in Northfield, where she worked up to three weeks before her death.
She was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Absecon, where she served on the Social Action Committee. She enjoyed trips to Germany to visit relatives, caring for her garden, and the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on July 25 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church; interment was private.
In addition to Msgr. Stoerlein, of Absecon, she is survived by Helen (Edward) Connors of Wilmington, Del.; Richard (Delores) Stoerlein of Mullica Hill; Antoinette (Larry) Delaney of Potomac, Md.; 11 nieces and nephews; and 15 grandnieces and grandnephews.
