Rod Herrera, director of the Office of Child and Youth Protection for the Diocese of Camden, was recently appointed to the Governing Board of Directors for the Marianist Family Retreat Center in Cape May Point, for a three-year term.
Under the guidance of the Society of Mary (Marianists), the center offers wide-ranging spiritual retreats for families and individuals. Upcoming programs include a “Families with Young Children” retreat, and, for nine weeks this summer, week-long retreats for families.
Herrera will help to oversee the center’s operations, specifically as a member of the Child Protection Subcommittee, focusing on the organization’s policy on youth safety.
“We’re happy to have him,” said Anthony Fucci, executive director of the Marianist Family Retreat Center, adding that Herrera and his family have been active volunteers in the center’s mission since 2004. “Knowing his professional background, and him and his family, I see him as a valuable contributor,” Fucci continued.
The Marianists are a religious order of brothers and priests, with more than 600 ministering in the United States, Eastern Africa, Ireland, India, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.
