Schools compete in Academic Olympics

Camden Catholic High School, Cherry Hill, recently hosted its Academic Olympics, with almost 50 students participating in a battle of the brains.

Schools represented included Resurrection Catholic School, Cherry Hill; Saint Mary, Williamstown; Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Maple Shade; Saint Paul, Burlington; Saint John Paul II, Stratford; Saint Cecilia, Pennsauken; Saint Joan of Arc, Marlton; Saint Peter, Merchantville; and Christ the King, Haddonfield.

Resurrection Catholic School won the team prize, in addition to having three students earn top honors: Jack Tartamosa (first place), Luke Keller (second place), and Mason Quinn (third place).

The students began with a 100 question written test followed by dinner hosted by Camden Catholic. The top 15 from the written test then competed in the “live question” round with student government president Simon Phillips as host. The top three scorers then competed in the final round with admissions director Howie Sexton moderating.

The top three scorers received (first) $500 tuition certificate, (second) $250 tuition certificate and (third) $125 Book Award.
