Schools honor memory of Capt. Greg Dalessio with annual run/walk

The Third Annual Captain Gregory T. Dalessio 5K Memorial Run/Walk was held on Saturday, Dec. 4. at Resurrection School in Cherry Hill.

The event is held in memory of Capt. Greg Dalessio, a 1996 graduate of Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, Pennsauken, who was killed in Iraq in 2008.

On Friday night, Karen Clemens, co-moderator of the Bishop Eustace Prep School National Honor Society, and five senior BE students stuffed race bags. On Saturday morning, NHS volunteers helped set up for the race by cutting up oranges, working registration, helping with timing and cheering on the runners/walkers as they finished.

Forty-six people participated in the event. From Bishop Eustace, Courtney Kelly was the female winner of the race and Eric Franklin was fourth overall and won his age group. Nicole LaRatta won her age group and Rachel Weiss was second.
