Sister Jean Rosaire Bedotto dies

Sister Jean Rosaire Bedotto, (Rita M. Bedotto) of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, died on May 23 in Kaplan Hospice Residence, Newburgh, N.Y. She was 85 years of age.
She began her teaching career at St. Patrick School, Woodbury, where she taught 1948-57.
She went on to serve as a principal and then reading consultant and language arts coordinator in New York, and later a professor of education at Mount Saint Mary College.
She was named Professor Emerita of Education in 2003 upon her retirement from the college. In 1998 Sister Jean received the Mount Saint Mary College Faculty Award at commencement in honor of her outstanding service to the college and its students.
As a Tai Chi teacher she taught numerous adults through the programs at the Mount Saint Mary College Desmond Campus. She also trained other teachers for Tai Chi and taught the retired Dominican Sisters as well.
Sister Jean Rosaire is survived by her sister Margaret (Peggy) Haefeli of Paterson, N.J.; niece Rita Aboyoun and her husband Louis of Wayne, N.J.; her nephew Edward Haefeli and his wife Lori of Springhill, Fla.; grandniece Nicole Aboyoun and grand nephew Loius Aboyoun and Edward Haefeli.
