Sister Margaret Bulfin Dies

Sister Margaret Bulfin (former Sister Mary Mechtilde), who served as a teacher and principal in many schools in three dioceses, including at St. Nicholas School in Atlantic City, died peacefully Feb. 21 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center in Watchung. She was 84.

She entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1943 and ministered in the Dioceses of Camden, Trenton and Metuchen. In the Diocese of Camden she taught at St. Nicholas School, Atlantic City.

She spent several years in retirement at Our Lady Star of the Sea Convent in Atlantic City. She moved to McAuley Hall in 2009.

Sister Margaret received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Georgian Court College, Lakewood, and a master of arts degree in education from Villanova University.

She is survived by a niece and a nephew.

Visitation will take place 8:30-10:30 a.m. Feb. 26, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Atlantic City. Burial will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Church.
