Sister Margaret Crilly, who taught in Atlantic City, dies

Sister Margaret (Peggy) Crilly, R.S.M, 90 years old, formerly Sister Mary Felice, who taught at Holy Spirit School in Atlantic City, died Dec. 26.

Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey in 1925, Sister Peggy attended Bender Memorial Academy in Elizabeth for elementary school.

During a 36-year teaching career, she served in nine elementary schools and three dioceses throughout New Jersey, including the Diocese of Camden, where she taught at Holy Spirit from 1957-1963.

For 14 years, after teaching, she volunteered in various parish communities and resided in Avon-by-the-Sea.

In 1999, she moved back to Mount Saint Mary in Watchung as a member of the Gabriel Hall community. In 2006, she joined the prayer apostolate at McAuley Hall Health Care Center.

She is survived by her brother, Alfred Crilly and wife Rose of New Jersey; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and many Sisters of Mercy in the Mid-Atlantic Community.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 29 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center. Burial was in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of Mercy, Mid-Atlantic Community, 1645 Highway 22 West, Watchung, NJ 07069.
