Mercy Sister Mary Donald Cody, age 84, died peacefully on Sept. 20, at McAuley Hall Health Care Center in Watchung, N.J.
Sister Donald, the former Rose Marie Cody, taught in schools in the Trenton, Camden and Metuchen dioceses, including Saint Nicholas School, Atlantic City from 1964-1965.
Sister Donald continued to serve at Saint Paul School, Princeton, in support staff positions until she moved to McAuley Hall Health Care Center in 2013.
“In firm and quiet ways, Sister Donald steadfastly met many challenges in her various assignments, always faithful to the life she had chosen and the people she vowed to serve. She loved teaching and interacting with faculty, parents and the children. Her small frame could be seen hustling from one task to another, always in a hurry. Always a primary grade teacher, she continued to tutor students even after she was no longer in the classroom full time,” the announcement of her death read.
She is survived by nephews/nieces and Sisters of Mercy in the Mid Atlantic Community.
Mass of Christian Burial was Sept. 25 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung. Burial was in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield, N.J.
