‘Son of God’ to open at area theaters Feb. 28

Twentieth Century Fox has announced the release of “Son of God” in theatres nationwide, including theaters in the Philadelphia and South Jersey areas, on Friday, Feb. 28.
Last year, producer and actress Roma Downey and producer Mark Burnett brought the epic miniseries “The Bible” to television audiences around the world. Mixing adventure, action and drama from the sacred text, the series became the number-one cable entertainment telecast of the year, and received three Emmy award nominations.
Now, the stand-alone “Son of God” features Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado in the title role, visual effects, and an orchestral score from Oscar-winner Hans Zimmer.
“I would recommend to individuals, and particularly to families, this wonderful story of the Son of God in order to be inspired all over again with the story of God’s love for us,” said Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington, D.C.
“It is a joy to watch this film bring alive the pages of the Gospel to help us see what those who lived at the time of Jesus experienced,” he said.

“Son of God” opens on Feb. 28 at the following area theaters (check theaters for showtimes):
– AMC Loews, Cherry Hill;
– Frank Theatres, Egg Harbor Twp.;
– Frank Theatres, Northfield;
– Frank Theatres, Rio Grande;
– United Artists, Sewell;
– Cinemark 16, Somerdale;
– AMC Franklin Mills Mall Circle, Philadelphia;
– United Artists Riverview Plaza Stadium 17, Philadelphia; and
– Regal Cumberland Stadium 14, Vineland.
