The art of Sister Celeste Mokrzycki, SSJ, a pastoral associate of St. Thomas of Brigantine, will be featured in an event that South Jersey Cancer Fund is hosting. It will be held at the Noyes Museum of Art, Stockton College, Oceanville, on Sunday, April 1, 5-8 p.m.
Sister Celeste studied painting at Chestnut Hill College, Pa., Fashion Institute of New York and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She studied watercolor with Eli Rosenthal, Jim McFarlane, president of the American Watercolor Society, and pastel with Rae Smith, president of the Pastel Society of America.
Her paintings have been exhibited in The Atlantic City Art Center, Atlantic City, and other local venues. Her painting, An Aging Pilgrim, won first place in the Noyes Museum Show, Seashore Gardens.
The other artists featured will be Rae Smith, president of The Pastel Society of America, and Stan Sperlak, whose work focuses on the South Jersey Landscape. He maintains a Gallery and Studio, Crow Creek Studio in Cape May Court House.
The event will include a silent auction. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. The cost is $50 per person. Call 609-266-0524.
