Youth from six counties in the Diocese of Camden will trade fun in the sun for service at the shore as part of the Summer in the City service project sponsored by the office of Youth Ministry.
Beginning Aug. 7 through Aug. 13, the week-long community service project provides high school teenagers the opportunity to volunteer at various work sites in Atlantic City including Catholic Charities, The Rescue Mission, Jean Webster’s Kitchen, Atlantic County Food Bank, and Villa Raffaella. Lodging will be provided at Holy Trinity Parish, St. James Church, in Ventnor. According to Joseph Zagarella, program director, “The combination of service at multiple work sites and reflection sessions gives our young people the chance to use their talents and abilities to help their neighbor, and increase their awareness and understanding of the importance of the rights and dignity of the human person.”
The program is limited to 30 participants. The fee is $100 which covers meals and lodging for the teens. For information, or to register, call 856-583-6122 or e-mail Joseph.Zagarella@camdendiocese.org.
