The St. Joseph Theater Ministry players take their bows after presenting The Legend of St. Joseph’s Lilies March 19 at St. Joseph Parish, Sea Isle City. The play tells the story of the high priest Zacharias (Samantha Andress), right, who was to decide who Mary’s husband would be. Zacharias prayed for guidance and an angel told him to have eligible men bring their walking sticks to the temple and leave them there overnight. In the morning, one walking stick, Joseph’s, had lilies blossoming from it. The performance ends with the cast singing, “Goin’ to the temple and we’re gonna get married” (to the tune of the 1964 Dixie Cups song “Chapel of Love”.)
