Theresa M. Van Galen (nee Brennan), 85, of Sea Girt, and sister of retired Msgr. William P. Brennan, died May 8.
Born and raised in Staten Island, N.Y., she resided there until moving to the Bronx in 1942. Since 1990, she resided in Sea Girt.
Ms. Van Galen had been employed as an executive secretary and human resources representative for Street & Finney and later at DMM, both in New York, for over 50 years. She was active in St. Mark’s Church in Sea Girt, and was a member of the Rosary Society and St. Mark’s Social Concerns Committee. She also volunteered her time, delivering for Meals on Wheels.
In addition to Msgr. Brennan, Ms. Van Galen is survived by her son, Peter Van Galen (Kathleen) of Bedford Hills, N.J.; grandchildren Jessica and Peter Van Galen; brother, Hubert Brennan (Grace) of Spring Lake; and 10 nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was celebrated May 12 at St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt. Interment was at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Staten Island.
