Vineland business helps area farmworkers

A Vineland ShopRite recently provided area farmworkers and their families with bags of food for the Christmas holiday, showing their appreciation for the laborers who, although not having much, still work their hardest to bring fresh food to the community.

The Wakefern/Bottino ShopRite gave away the 60 bags full of whole chickens, bread, beans, rice, and other items to farmworkers from Vineland, Bridgeton, Millville, Rosenhayn and Cedarville.

Maribel Santos, community relations coordinator for Wakefern/Bottino ShopRite, noted that there was a need to help the 60 families, and the Bottino family didn’t hesitate to help with their donation.

“A lot of (these) families are without. It’s difficult to celebrate the holidays, for those who can’t work (in the winter months).”

No stranger to helping the needy, since 1999 ShopRite has participated in Partners In Caring, which raises money for programs that help food get to hungry families, children, and the elderly.
