For the third straight year, Wildwood Catholic High School’s forensics team has topped all other Catholic schools in the Camden Diocese that field squads in the art of public speaking.
Wildwood Catholic claimed the Bishop’s Cup for most points attained during the regular season of competition and the McGettigan Trophy for its first place finish in the Dr. David Coghlan Memorial Forensic League Invitational held on March 6 at Sacred Heart High School in Vineland.
Since 2003, the team’s record is 46 wins and two losses.
Several team members, by virtue of finishing first in their respective categories, qualified at the Sacred Heart tournament to participate in the Grand National Forensic Tournament to be held Memorial Day weekend in Baltimore.
First place winners and their categories are as follows: Garrett Brown of Avalon (Extemporaneous Speech on current events), Ashley Patten of Cape May (Dramatic Performance of Video Dating), and Megan Metzler of Avalon (Oral Interpretation).
Garnering second place trophies were Victoria Kanya of Rio Grande (Declamation), Jordan Montgomery of North Wildwood (Dramatic Performance of Beauty Is Only Skin Deep), and Kaitlin Zinkewich of North Cape May (Original Oratory).
Additional members of the Wildwood Catholic forensics team this year are Sarah Visalli, Katie Jett, Maddie McGlade, Thomas DePaul, Luke Gegan, Joe Jett, Rita Marino, William Metzler, Eva Louderback, Sarah McBride, Mackenzie Scully, and Jacob Versaggi.
