The New Jersey Catholic Schools’ Marketing Council presents a one-day workshop called 10 Steps to Enrollment Management in a Catholic School on April 20 and again on April 21. The workshops are open to all principals, pastors, marketing and development professionals, board members, and parents.

The speaker will be John Cooper of Institute of School and Parish Development (ISPD), a national development consulting firm created in 1989 to serve Catholic schools, parishes and dioceses in the areas of planning, marketing, and resource development. To date, the ISPD has worked with over 5,000 Catholic institutions nationwide. All ISPD consultants have past experience working in Catholic institutions as teachers, administrators, and/or development directors.

Enrollment management is a top priority at any Catholic school. Without the right quantity, quality or diversity of students, a Catholic school struggles to survive and thrive. The workshop will address the following components of a healthy enrollment management program:

— Customer Relationship Management

— Making Your School’s Web Site a 24/7 Marketing Tool

— Financing Tuition – Tackling the Silent Killer of Your School’s Enrollment

— Role of Faculty in Enrollment Management

— Role of Staff in Enrollment Management

— Role of Pastoral Leadership in Enrollment Management

— Role of School Parents in Enrollment Management

— Role of the Paid or Volunteer Enrollment Manager (includes variety of job titles used to describe the person in charge of Enrollment Management related functions)

— Formation and Implementation of a Core Enrollment Management Team

— Creating and Implementing Your School’s Search Campaign

— Marketing 101 – Direct Mail, Promotional Publications, and Traditional Advertising

— Measuring Satisfaction – Achieving Levels of Self-Promotion Necessary for Enrollment Growth and Retention

— Utilizing Technology to Fuel Enrollment Growth

John Cooper leads the Institute of School and Parish Development’s Enrollment Management division and has worked as an enrollment management consultant with thousands of Catholic elementary and high schools across the country. Cooper connects the best practices of marketing and recruitment with Vatican II’s call to engage and evangelize in the modern world.

Cooper was in Catholic higher education for 17 years at three different institutions — University of Dayton, Chatfield College, and Xavier. He has served as an enrollment consultant for colleges and universities, Catholic schools, career and technical high schools, and the Ohio Tech Prep Initiative. He has taught undergraduate courses ranging from Understanding Catholicism to Faith and Justice. His background also includes parish work relating to RCIA, youth and social justice outreach.

This spring’s workshop consists of two overall presentations with a light lunch break between sessions. There will be a vendor fair where participants can pick up information from companies that aid in various aspects of marketing.

The first workshop will be held at Mother Seton Regional High School in Clark (http://www.motherseton.org) on April 20 and the second at Holy Cross High School in Delran (http://sp.holycrosshighschool.org/default.aspx ) on April 21. Directions to these locations may be found on the schools’ web sites. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the workshop will conclude by 2:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch are included; and the fee for attending is $25 if you register by March 26, or $35 if you register after that time. In addition, a school may register a team of five attendees for $100.

Please contact Pat Munyan (pmunyan@camdendiocese.org) for more information or to register for the workshops.
