Camden Catholic High School Principal Thomas Kiely — in a previous life a classically trained gourmet chef — will face-off in a culinary competition against teacher Christopher Ehrmann to determine who is the “2010 Irish Chef.” The cooking competition will take place during the dessert course of a three-course dinner to be held at the Cherry Hill school on Saturday, April 24 at 6 p.m.
Kiely and religion teacher Ehrmann, a self-described “TV-trained” chef, will each prepare his own three-course menu using a “secret” ingredient that will not be unveiled to the chefs until that night. During the competition, diners can look into the high school kitchen area or watch the competition on closed circuit TV screens. At the end of the preparation, a panel of judges will judge the best meal based on taste, originality, and presentation, just as it is done on the TV program “Iron Chef.”
In addition, students in Camden Catholic’s Grilling Club and Baking Club will prepare the side dishes, appetizers, and bread to be served on April 24. Proceeds from the event will go to the ongoing renovation of the Camden Catholic TV studio, with members of the CCTV Club helping with the dinner set up.
Tickets are $40, which includes dinner, beer, and wine. To obtain tickets, contact Pat Flemming at 856-663-4694 or at ehflemming@comcast.net. It is an over-21 event.
