The Catholic Business Network of South Jersey will focus on the role of education in developing successful business leaders at its monthly breakfast meeting on Friday, Feb. 14. Catholic schools superintendent Dr. Bill Watson will offer his perspective and introduce featured speaker Cate Van Es, a senior at Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill.

“Today’s students will shape the future of most businesses and professions. Their success will depend upon academic achievement, technical and problem-solving skills, character and work ethic,” said Watson.

“Our vision is ‘for students to become faith-filled adults who, guided by Gospel values, shape our world with knowledge, integrity and compassion.’ Cate is an excellent example of a student who is achieving that vision,” he said.

Cate, who has been nominated for admission to the United States Air Force Academy, was an altar server and has volunteered at her parish, Our Lady of Hope in Blackwood, at Ronald McDonald House, and for the Catholic Charities Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

At Camden Catholic she has managed an academically challenging honors course load while participating in many leadership organizations, including National Honor Society, the Emerald Literary Society, Cathedral Scholars, Green and While (student ambassadors), and Link Crew (freshman orientation program).

A summer lifeguard at Greenwood Park/Bells Lake, Cate is a member of the Camden Catholic swim team and South Jersey Rowing Club. She completed her first triathlon in 2018.

“We are grateful to the Catholic Business Network for its support of Catholic education in South Jersey,” said Watson. “I think the business community will be inspired by Cate’s accomplishments and see great hope in our future business leaders.”

The Catholic Business Network will meet Feb. 14, 7:30 a.m. for breakfast at Woodcrest Country Club, Cherry Hill. The cost is $20 for members, $25 for non-members. All are invited to attend. For more info and to register: https://cbnsj.org/
