Left, Spanish youth prepare to visit homes in Vineland for faith-sharing and time with children the week of June 13-19. Fifteen youth took part in the “Vayan y Hagan Discipulos” Retreat that took place at John Paul II Retreat Center in Vineland.
Fifteen Hispanic young adults from the Diocese of Camden came together for a mission week of community, service, and faith-sharing at John Paul II Retreat Center in Vineland, from Sunday, June 13- Friday June 19.
Challenged to “Vayan y Hagan Discipulos” — “Come and Be Disciples” — the young adults started each day with a 6 a.m. wake-up, followed by morning prayer and visits with local residents to play games with children and engage in faith sharing; and perform community service. The evenings consisted of prayer, faith formation, and movies.
Adult mission leaders presented different topics to the young adults during faith formation, reminding them that “Ay de Mal al no predicar el Evangelio” — Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel!”
Father Walter Guasp Santos of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Lindenwold, spoke on the theme “Come and See”; Sister Graciela Sandoya, “When You Pray…”; Father Rene Canales of Corpus Christi, Carneys Point, “Love God and Your Neighbor.”
On Sunday, before the retreatants completed their time in Vineland, there was a sending forth Mass, challenging the young adults to continue their work as disciples of God in their own homes.
